An Interview with Two-Time MSPT Champion Chris Meyers After his Win at the Venetian
Created (6/6/2024 12:44:44 AM by Ryan Lucchesi)

Chris Meyer is no stranger to success on the Mid-States Poker Tour after winning his second title on the tour at the MSPT Venetian stop. He has also previously claimed MSPT Player of the Year honors, and it’s pretty much just a matter of time before he takes his place in the MSPT Hall of Fame. He also added $158,100 to his career tournament earnings that now stand above $1.2 million. Here is a rundown of his answers from the winner interview we got with Meyers just minutes after the win in Las Vegas.

Right after the win: “This is great, sometimes it’s just your day. All glory to God. It was just my time and it feels good.”

On crushing with a big stack in the endgame: “You’ve got to stay aggressive, and just try to finish and close.”

About future MSPT HOF prospects: “I need a few more cashes, but after this second title hopefully I can get in this year to punch that ticket.”

On what keeps bringing him back to MSPT events: “These are great events, and they get great turnouts across the country. It’s one of the best tours out there.”

About kicking off the summer with a much larger bankroll; “I feel like we’re free-rolling the summer now, and I will try to build on that momentum.”

On his celebration plans: “It’s too early in the summer. I’m going to take the day off tomorrow, and then head back to the grind.”

About the host property for this MSPT tour stop at the Venetian Poker Room: “The Venetian has been running this great series parallel to the World Series for a long time, and the MSPT has partnered with them every year, so I’m very happy to get this one.”
