Day 1c of the MSPT Season 15 Riverside $1,110 Main Event attracted 303 runners, which along with 1a’s 63 and 1b’s 225, brought the total field up to 591 entries, shattering the $300k guarantee.
The field generated a $583,590 prize pool, which will pay a minimum of $2,173, while the eventual winner will walk away with a $120,072 first-place prize, along with the Main Event trophy.
At the end of the third and final flight, just 33 players bagged and tagged with three-time MSPT champ Carl Carodenuto bagging the flight's chip lead with 604,000.
Carotenuto went on a late-night heater to jump Ronald Moore (585,000), MSPT champ Steve Federspiel (516,000), Rashad Ibrahim (510,000), and fellow MSPT champ Matthew Eng (507,000) for the top spot as they rounded out the top five stacks.
They were joined by two-time MSPT champ Nick Barksdale (407,000), Mark Lafata (400,000), Dennis Stevermer (321,000), DJ Buckley (260,000), Nicola DiTrapani (260,000), March’s Riverside champ Jake Wilding (168,000), and defending Phirom Peterschmidt (158,000).
Of course, not everyone was so lucky as the likes of Jonathan Kim, Kenneth Baime, William Chao, David Gonia, Joe Matheson, and Travis Young all fell short of clinching a Day 2 berth.
All surviving players from the starting flights – of which there are 63 (6 from Day 1a, 24 from 1b, and 33 from 1c) – will return at 11:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, November 3rd to play down to a winner.
The MSPT live reporting crew will be on the floor throughout the remainder of the tournament to provide updates, so keep it here to catch the action!
