MSPT Champ Lee Rzentkowski Leads 24 Survivors After Day 1A of the MSPT Season 16 Ohio Poker State Championship

Day 1a of the MSPT Season 16 JACK Cleveland $1,110 Ohio Poker State Championship is officially in the books and was one to remember.

The first of three starting flights closed with 219 entries, putting it on par with the 237 Day 1a record-breaking field posted last year.

Just 24 players remained when chips went into bags with 25:45 remaining in Level 15 (3,000/6,000/6,000) with MSPT champ Lee Rzentkowski (623,000) edging out Daniel Finley (569,000), and Saubhagya Kumar (523,000) for the top spot.

Nick Barile (482,000) and Chad Stone (474,000) rounded out the top five stacks of the flight while Lawrence Smith (388,000), two-time MSPT champ Bobby Noel (298,000), fellow JACK Cleveland champ Jonathan Lewis (294,000), and Brad Sailor (105,000) all found a Day 2 berth.

Among those to try and fall on 1a included Ray Ezzie, Brad Rogoff, Bob Nolen, Edward “EDub” Dixon and MSPT Hall of Famer Pat Steele.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back in the action.

Day 1b will kick off at 12:15 p.m. local time on Friday, while the third and final flight, Day 1c, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

Jack McCann Bubbles Day 1A

A flurry of eliminations saw Jack McCann bubble Day 1a against Lawrence Smith, ending play for the first flight.

First Season 16 Trip to Riverside Casino Scheduled for March 25th - 30th!

For the first time this season, the MSPT is headed to Riverside Casino in Riverside, IA from March 25th - 30th! Scheduled

A $250 NLH Monster Stack will kick off the five-trophy event series on Tuesday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. followed by the $200 NLH Epic Stack on Wednesday, March 26th starting at 11:00 a.m.

A series of $70 and $265 satellites will then feed into the $1,110 buy-in Main Event, which requires players be 21+ to play.

The tournament, which boasts a $300K GTD, will offer three starting flights with Day 1a beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th.

Day 1b will take place at the same time on Friday, March 28th, with Day 1c following suit on Saturday, March 29th.

The surviving players from all starting flights will return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 30th, to play down to a winner.

Also, on that Sunday, there will be a $360 NLH Monster Stack Event beginning at Noon.

Rzentkowski Drops One with Aces

MSPT champ Lee Rzentkowski opened under the gun with a raise and then called the cutoff’s three-bet jam.

Swartz Loses Flip to Craig

Bradley Craig opened under the gun and then called DJ Swartz’s three-bet jam from the small blind.

It was a classic flip with an ace appearing in the window on the flop for Craig to take the lead.

The turn left Swarz needing a lucky lady on the river to stay alive, but the completed the board and sent him on his way.

Dan Finley raised to 11,000 from the hijack only to call Jordan Schneible’s 47,000 three-bet jam from the button.

Brian Villers Strolls Away the Top Senior

Over the past week, players have been inside JACK Cleveland Casino duking it out for the MSPT Season 16 Ohio Pokert State Championship Series!

In Event #2: $300 NLH Seniors, 323 walkers strolled to the tables and generated a $77,520 prize pool that was reserved for the top 36 seniors.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Jerry Moutsios (10th Place - $1,310), Bob Nolen (14th Place - $1,045), Ron Bell (23rd Place - $620), Rich Viebranz (26th Place - $565), and defending champ Charles Tromm (36th Place - $540).

Coming out the top senior was Brian Villers, who took home the top prize and the new MSPT trophy!
