Matt Murray Bags Nearly a Milly to Take the Overall Chip Lead into Day 2 of the MSPT Season 16 Ohio Poker State Championship

Day 1c of the MSPT Season 16 JACK Cleveland $1,110 Ohio Poker State Championship attracted another 381 runners, which, along with 1a's 219 and 1b’s 224, brought the field total up to 824 entries.

The massive field generated a $797,780 prize pool, and the top 88 players will get paid a minimum of $2,085, while the eventual winner will walk away with a $156,414 first-place prize, along with the MSPT Season 16 Ohio Poker State Championship!

At the end of the final flight, just 40 players bagged and tagged with Matt Murray collecting 946,000 chips to take the overall chip lead into Day 2.

Following behind Murray was fellow New Yorker Vinny Giuliano, who secured the second overall Day 2 chip stack with a healthy 740,000 while Ian Richardson will take the third overall chip lead into the final day with 644,000.

Rounding out the top five stacks of the flight were Rusty Zahn (580,000), and Daniel Wolf (530,000), who both found new life after getting moved to the same table.

Others who were able to find a Day 2 berth after the final starting flight included Jennifer Malensek (407,000), Emad Alabsi (368,000), Brad Rogoff (251,000), Andy Hammell (241,000), David Gutfreund (231,000), and DJ Swartz (206,000).

Among those to fall short of a Day 2 berth included MSPT champ Angela Jordison, Ray Ezzie, MSPT Hall of Famer Gerald Cunniff, Dean Schultz, and defending champ Anthony Hancovsky.

Day 2 will get underway at 11:15 a.m. local time and play to a winner with 88 players (24 from Day 1a, 24 from 1b, and 40 from 1c) returning to the felt.

Brian Villers Strolls Away the Top Senior

Over the past week, players have been inside JACK Cleveland Casino duking it out for the MSPT Season 16 Ohio Pokert State Championship Series!

In Event #2: $300 NLH Seniors, 323 walkers strolled to the tables and generated a $77,520 prize pool that was reserved for the top 36 seniors.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Jerry Moutsios (10th Place - $1,310), Bob Nolen (14th Place - $1,045), Ron Bell (23rd Place - $620), Rich Viebranz (26th Place - $565), and defending champ Charles Tromm (36th Place - $540).

Coming out the top senior was Brian Villers, who took home the top prize and the new MSPT trophy!

Choma Sets Up Cooper to Stay Alive

Action on the table folded to Anthony Cooper who raised to 16,000 from the cutoff, and was called by Matt Murray from the button before Dominic Choma squeezed his 103,000 stack in the middle from the small blind.

Only Cooper made the call, and the two players tabled their hands.
