Tim Fleenor Soars to the Top to Lead 24 Players Advance After Day 1B of the MSPT Season 16 Ohio Poker State Championship

Another full day of action occurred during Day 1b the MSPT Season 16 JACK Cleveland $1,110 Ohio Poker State Championship as the second of three flights drew in another 224 entries to bring the two-day total to 443 with one flight still to go.

Of the 224 entries that came out to play, just 24 players remained when pens went to slips with Tim Fleenor riding a late-night heater to bag 640,000, good enough for the overall top stack thus far.

Following behind Fleenor was Mike Valore who bagged an impressive 563,000 while Brian Springman just missed out on the half-milly mark bagging 487,000.

Newly crowned MSPT Poker Bowl IX champ Anthony Scarborough grinded away throughout the day to end with a healthy 457,000 while Thomas Carlin (431,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

Much like Day 1a, the final level of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as WSOP bracelet winner Katie Kopp and Andy Hammell among those to be eliminated before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the three remaining tables in the final level of play that led to a lot of players riding roller coasters with their stack sizes before becoming official for the evening.

Several other familiar players will also be joining the aforementioned five as three-time bracelet winner Sean Troha (378,000), Frank Lagodich (328,000), Mike Suggs (325,000), Rob Kovacevic (319,000), and two-time MSPT champ Chris Meyers (213,000), are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 24 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those not as lucky at the felt included Daniel Wolf, David Gutfreund, Cassondra Luttman, Nick Lanzi, and Casey Yontz, with at least a few if not all of them likely to be seen back in action for the final flight.

The final starting flight for the Main Event is tomorrow starting at 12:15 p.m. EST.

Everyone who makes Day 2 will return on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. to play for the Season 16 MSPT $1,110 Ohio Poker State Championship at JACK Cleveland Casino.

Andy Hammell Eliminated on the Bubble

Andy Hammell was all in after a flop from the hijack and was called by Tim Fleenor from the big blind.

Hammell was ahead after pairing his six on the flop and the turn didn’t change a thing.

Unfortunately for Hammell, the dealer then followed with the on the river to complete Fleenor’s flush and ended Hammell’s night on the bubble.

Kopp Flushed Out the Door by Troha

WSOP bracelet winner Katie Kopp was all in preflop for 150,000 from the hijack and was called by three-time bracelet winner Sean Troha from the button.

It was a classic with the flop giving Troha the lead.

The turn wasn’t a good sight for Kopp as it took one of her outs away, and the river gave Troha a flush to end her night.

Andy Hammell open-jammed 98,000 from middle position and action folded to the big blind who called.

So far, just 24 players have punched their ticket into Day 2 and another group of 24 hopefuls will look to add their names to that list tonight.

All who make it through until the end of play will return to action, Sunday, February 16^th at 11:15 a.m. for Day 2, where the remaining players from all starting flights will combine and play until a winner is declared.

First Season 16 Trip to Riverside Casino Scheduled for March 25th - 30th!

For the first time this season, the MSPT is headed to Riverside Casino in Riverside, IA from March 25th - 30th! Scheduled

A $250 NLH Monster Stack will kick off the five-trophy event series on Tuesday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. followed by the $200 NLH Epic Stack on Wednesday, March 26th starting at 11:00 a.m.

A series of $70 and $265 satellites will then feed into the $1,110 buy-in Main Event, which requires players be 21+ to play.

The tournament, which boasts a $300K GTD, will offer three starting flights with Day 1a beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th.

Day 1b will take place at the same time on Friday, March 28th, with Day 1c following suit on Saturday, March 29th.

The surviving players from all starting flights will return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 30th, to play down to a winner.

Also, on that Sunday, there will be a $360 NLH Monster Stack Event beginning at Noon.
