Day 1d of the MSPT $1,600 Heart Poker Championship at the Venetian Resort was the final opportunity for players to find a Day 2 berth, and a large field of 408 players took their shot, but only 45 of them were able to make it through to the final day.
The final starting flight brought the total field up to 878 entries, generating a $1,246,760 prize pool, and Owen Goodrich has positioned himself well to make a Day 2 run after bagging the top stack of 1,014,000, taking the overall chip lead into Day 2.
Another player to catch steam throughout the day was Donald Cowie, who ended the night with an impressive 812,000 stack to put into his bag, and he will bring a top five stack into Day 2.
Others to bag big included Huabao Chen (785,000), Gonzalo Lopez (702,000), and Ayman Qutami (697,000), as they rounded out the top five stacks of this flight.
Anthony Reategui
They were joined by WSOP bracelet winner Anthony Reategui (609,000), two-time bracelet winner Justin Lapka (582,000), five-time bracelet winner David Peters (469,000), Jeremy Becker (394,000), and newly crowned bracelet winner Michelle Chin (265,000).
Jamie Kerstetter
Among those not as lucky at the felt included Jamie Kerstetter, MSPT Champ Veerab Zakarian, two-time bracelet winner JC Tran, Christina “Baby Shark” Gollins, 1998 WSOP Main Event champ Scotty Nguyen, Jessica Vierling, and defending Champ Josh Reichard.

The surviving players from all four flights – of which there are 99 (8 from Day 1a, 17 from 1b, 29 from 1c, and 45 from 1d) – will return for Day 2 at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, July 19th, and will play until a winner is crowned.
