Day 1B of the MSPT Canterbury Park attracted 272 entries, which along with Day 1A's 207, brought the total field to 479 runners. The top 54 players will get paid a minimum of $2,084, while the winner will take home a $99,573 first-place prize.
After nearly 15 levels of play on Saturday night, just 32 players survived with Todd Sladek and his 423,000 stack leading the way. That puts him ahead of Day 1A chip leader Amir Tavanae and his 364,000 chip stack. The Illinois based Sladek will be looking for his fourth MSPT Main Event cash.
Others to bag big include Tyler Kolness (377,500), Mark Feil (357,000), Alex Moua (311,000), and Eric Atchison (305,500).
Others that were able to navigate the field to Day 2 include Matt Alexander (273,500), Chicago’s Cody Brinn (229,500), Season 9 MSPT Canterbury Park Regional champ Saad Ghanem (224,500), MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup (213,000), former MSPT champs Tom Stambaugh (154,000), Ben Wiora (121,500), and Carl Carodenuto (120,000), and Steve Wazwaz (67,000).
Of course, not everyone managed a bag today. Some of those include reigning MSPT POY Aaron Johnson, three-time MSPT champ Blake Bohn, Minnesota Poker Hall of Famer Mike Schneider, former MSPT champs Ahmed Taleb, Jason Ramos, Jason Sell, Mike Shin and Joe Matheson, former MSPT Regional champs Craig Trost and Paul Cross, Ryan Phan, Ian Matakis, and Alex Winter.
Day 2 will get underway at 11 am on Sunday with 57 players (25 from 1A, 32 from 1B) returning to action.
