Dave Huffman Leads 26 Survivors After Day 1A

Day 1a of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) JACK Cleveland $1,110 Main Event is officially in the books with 226 total entries tallied by night's end.

After a hard stop was reached with 24:46 remaining in Level 14, just 26 players were able to find a Day 2 birth with Dave Huffman's late-night heater soaring him to the top of the counts with 591,000.

Jared Ingles came into today's starting flight fresh off two six-figure scores and built up a 514,000 stack which was good enough for second place.

Eric Cohen (506,000), David Gutfreund (344,000), and Fred Lytle (329,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

Among those to try and fall on 1a include MSPT Hall of Famer's Pat Steele & Josh Reichard, two-time MSPT champ's Ken Baime & Greg Himmelbrand, and WSOP bracelet winner Katie Kopp.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have two more starting flights to jump back in action.

Day 1B will kick off at 12:15 p.m. local time on Friday, while the third and final flight, Day 1C, will take place at the same time on Saturday.

The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

Chuck Rozalski was all in preflop for 75,000 from the button and was called by Paul Gibbons from the big blind.

Ke Cun raised to 6,000 from early position only to call an 84,000 three-bet jam from the cutoff.

Cun was out in front holding the better made hand enjoyed the flop that gave him a set.

The turn left Cun’s opponent drawing dead and the river ended their tournament.

Schwartz Finishes Off Simmerman

Austin Simmerman raised under the gun and Keith Schwartz called from the cutoff.

The flop saw Simmerman get his last 43,000 stack in the middle and Schwartz called holding the same amount.

Both players held open-ended straight draws with the turn leaving Simmerman needing a seven on the river to stay alive.

Unfortunately for Simmerman, the completed the board and ended his Day 1a run.

Schwartz Connects with Flop to Stay Alive

Austin Simmerman raised from middle position and then called the 20,000 three-bet jam Keith Schwartz made from the small blind.

The didn’t change a thing, nor did the river that secured Schwartz’s double.

The tournament clock reads 226 entrants tallied with 45 players remaining.

The plan is to play through Level 15 (2 more hours) unless 12% of the field (27 players) is reached first.

Rozalski Wins Race to Drop Martin

Chad Martin raised from the cutoff and then called off his 30,000 stack after Chuck Rozalski three-bet jammed for more from the button.

It was a classic with Martin losing the lead after the flop paired Rozalski’s ace.
