Ashish Keshri Leads 48 Survivors After Record Breaking Day 1B Field

Another full day of action occurred during Day 1b the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) JACK Cleveland $1,110 Main Event with 15 full levels coming to completion.

The second of three flights drew 380 total entries setting yet another venue record for most entries logged during a Day 1b flight and brought the two-day total thus far to 617, blasting past the $500K GTD with one flight remaining.

Of those 380 entries, just 48 players remained when pens went to slips and Ashish Keshri found himself atop the counts with 558,000, good enough for the third overall stack through the two starting flights.

Following hot on Keshri’s tail were Brian Patterson (541,000), and Joseph Curcio (538,000), as they were the only other players to bag north of 500K while Dominic Choma (476,000), and Danny Doolan (457,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

Much like Day 1a, the final level of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as WSOP bracelet winner Katie Kopp and MSPT champ Lee Rzentkowski among those to be eliminated before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the six remaining tables in the final level of play that led to a lot of players riding roller coasters with their stack sizes before becoming official for the evening.

Several other familiar players will also be joining the aforementioned five. MSPT champ’s Alex Cruz (396,000) & Satish Thakur (348,000), Mike Suggs (321,000), WSOP bracelet winner Keven Stammen (296,000), & MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup (260,000), are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 25 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those not as lucky at the felt included Ray Ezzie, DJ Buckley, and Thomas Carlin, along with MSPT champ's Richard Bai, Bobby Noel, and Curtis Vierstraete, with at least a few if not all of them likely to be seen back in action for the final flight.

The final starting flight for the Main Event is tomorrow starting at 12:15 p.m. EST.

Everyone who makes Day 2 will return on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. to play for the Season 15 MSPT $1,110 Main Event Title at JACK Cleveland Casino.

The tournament director has just announced the final five hands of the evening.

Richards Dropped by Suggs

Mike Suggs opened under the gun for 15,000 and found three callers before Mikhaile Richards squeezed her short stack in the middle from the big blind.

Action was back on Suggs who went over the top and gave Richards isolation after the other players folded.

Ruslan Zakharchuk raised all-inf or 118,000 from the hijack and Tom Gibbons called from the small blind.

Frank Lagodich opened for 12,000 from middle position and then called MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup’s 121,000 three-bet jam from the hijack.

Yesterday’s starting flight saw Nazim Temiz edge out Carter Kline for the top spot after 30 players advanced from a 237-entry record Day 1a field and players who make it through today will join that group on Sunday, February 4th for Day 2 at 11:15 a.m.

Tom Hammers raised from the cutoff and then snapped-off his 94,000 stack after Steven Yanus three-bet jammed for more from the big blind.

Farhad Guyuron Walks Away Top Senior

The Mid States Poker Tour (MSPT) returned to JACK Cleveland Casino and hosted a $300 NLH Seniors Event that saw 33 entries build a $84,252 prize pool that paid out to the top 36 seniors.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Leonid Shuster (10th Place - $1,370), Jeff Wilson (13th Place - $1,095), and Christina Armeni (16th Place - $930).

Coming out the top was Farhad Guyuron who took home the MSPT trophy and $16,000 top prize!
