Andrew Keeney Rides Late Night Heater Leading 25 Advancing Players After Day 1C

Day 1c of the MSPT Season 16 Ameristar East Chicago $1,110 Main Event is in the books after attracting 220 runners, bringing the total field up to 382 entries with one flight remaining.

Of those 220 entries today, just 25 players were able to find a Day 2 berth with last November’s fourth-place finisher Andrew Keeney and his 829,000 stack leading the charge, edging out Songjie Zhou (638,000) for the overall top stack through the first three starting flights.

MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz was able to catch some steam as well taking 488,000 into Day 2 while Pyzza Teston (451,000), and George Wedemeyer (413,000) rounded out the top five stacks of the flight.

They were joined by MSPT champ Matt Porter (384,000), Timothy Heng (352,000), Varkey James (344,000), MSPT champ Curtis Vierstraete (292,000), and Asa Snyder (98,000).

Among those not as lucky at the felt included MSPT champ Brian Landon, Sarah Stefan, Jill Bryant, Jerry Hapunik, and Leo Fussy.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have one final opportunity to find a Day 2 berth as Day 1d for the Main Event will be getting underway at Noon tomorrow.

Everyone who makes Day 2 will return on Memorial Monday at 11:00 a.m. to play for the MSPT $1,110 Main Event Title at Ameristar Casino Hotel.

Eyer Wins Race to Stay Alive While Two Others Fall, Ending Play for the Night

Varkey James opened under the gun with a raise only to call Lawrence Eyer’s 108,000 three-bet jam from the small blind.

Eyer was racing for his tournament life and pulled ahead after the flop paired his ace.

The turn kept Eyer out in front and the river secured his double-up.

After that hand, a double elimination occurred ending play for the evening.

Angel Suarez Claims Event #6

For the first time season, the MSPT made its way to East Chicago, IN and players have been duking it out over the past week inside the Ameristar Casino for its 13-trophy event series!

In Event #6: $250 Ultimate Stack NLH, 69 spectacular players went to the felt and in the end, it was Angel Suarez who walked away with the ultimate victory to claim the top spot along with the trophy!

So far, just 19 players have punched their ticket into Day 2, and another group of 25 hopefuls will look to add their names to that list tonight.

All who make it through until the end of play will return Memorial Monday, May 26^th at 11:00 a.m. for Day 2, where the remaining players from all starting flights will combine and play until a winner is declared.
