Zac Campbell Soars to the Top to Lead 27 Survivors After Day 1B

A lengthy day of 16 levels has wrapped up during the MSPT Season 16 $1,110 Main Event at the Hollywood Casino in St. Louis, as Day 1b drew 243 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 339, basting past the $300K GTD with tomorrow’s final flight still to go.

Of those 243 entries, only 27 players remained when chips went into bags, with Zac Campbell going on a late-night heater to take a whopping 862,000 into Day 2, which is good enough for overall chip lead thus far.

Finishing the night in second place was Nanda Bhanoori, who was seen building a top stack throughout the day, and ended with 671,000, good enough for second overall so far.

Eric Bryant found himself 572,000 to end the night, while Brian Sanguinet (471,000), and back-to-back Player of the Year Umut Ozturk (471,000) rounded out the top five stacks of the flight.

Others who survived the second starting flight included Brett ‘Pops’ Reichard (306,000), MSPT champ’s Jeff Copeland (254,000) & John “Farmboy” Kurfman (225,000), and MSPT Hall of Famers Josh Reichard (177,000) & Rob WazWaz (143,000), as they were just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 11 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those to fire and fall on Day 1b included MSPT champ Matt Porter, Steven Bahls, Michael Graves, Houston Hubble, and Andros Ioakimidesl, to name a few.

Those players, as well as any newcomers, have one last starting flight to jump back into action with Day 1c starting tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.

Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 10:40 p.m.).

Paul Fehlig open-jammed 96,000 under the gun, and Brian Sanguinet looked him up from the small blind.

Fehlig rolled over a dominating ace, but the flop paired Sanguinet’s jack, but also gave Fehlig the club flush draw.

Unfortunately for Fehlig, neither the turn nor the river improved his hand, ending his night on the bubble.

Ozturk Slow Plays Aces to Double Through WazWaz

Back-to-back Player of the Year Umut Ozturk limped in under the gun, only to have fellow MSPT Hall of Famer Rob WazWaz raise to 16,000 next to act.

WazWaz found one caller before action folded back to Ozturk, who squeezed his 108,000 stack in the middle, and WazWaz went over the top for 270,000, giving him isolation.

Nanda Bhanoori raised to 11,000 from the small blind and then called the big blind’s three-bet jam.

Bhanoori rolled over the better hand, but the flop connected with his opponent for them to take the lead.

The turn wasn’t much help for Bhanoori, but a lucky lady fell on the river, giving him the nuts to eliminate his opponent.
