Sean Maurer Leads Final 46 Survivors After Day 1C

Day 1c of the MSPT (Mid-States Poker Tour) $1,110 Missouri State Poker Championship at Hollywood Casino attracted 354 runners, which along with 1a's 124 and 1b’s 235 brought the total field up to 713 entries, shattering the $300k guarantee.

The massive field generated a $691,610 prize pool, and the top 72 players will get paid a minimum of $2,282, while the eventual winner will walk away with a $141,780 first-place prize, along with the Season 15 MSPT Missouri State Poker Championship trophy.

At the end of the third and final flight, 46 players bagged and tagged with Sean Maurer bagging the overall chip lead with a 542,000. Maurer held the top stack for most of the evening and started running away with the lead in the final levels.

Another player to catch steam throughout the day was defending champ Jeff Sauer who was able run up to 470,000 stack to end the night second in chips.

Others to bag big stacks where Nick Lafata (429,000), William Henricks (425,000), and Kevin Bagin (410,000) who round out the top five.

They were joined by Shawn McCracken (402,000), Chris Audrian (400,000), Andy Rogowski (306,000), three-time bracelet winner Dutch Boyd (299,000), MSPT champs Gerald Cunniff (267,000) & Keith Heine (265,000), along with Mary Sturges (253,000) & Angela Jordison (198,000).

The surviving players from all three flights – of which there are 89 (14 from Day 1a, 29 from 1b, and 46 from 1c) – will return at 11:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, February 25th to play down to a winner.

So far, 43 players have punched their ticket into Day 2, and a final group of hopefuls will look to add their names to that list today.

All who make it through until the end of play will return tomorrow, Sunday, February 25th, at 11:00 a.m. for Day 2, where the remaining players from all starting flights will combine and play until a winner is declared.

Nicholas Lafata Unleashes His Inner Monster

For the fifth stop of its 15th season, the MSPT made its way to St. Louis for the Missouri State Poker Championship and players have been duking it out over the past week inside the Hollywood Casino for its 16-trophy event series!

In Event #14: $250 No-Limit Monster Stack, 180 hunters took to the tables and created a $36,000 prize pool which was reserved for the top 18 players.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Gilbert Shadowens (10th Place - $684), Mark Lafata (11th Place - $576), and Olive Rivers (18th Place - $504).

In the end, it was Illinois native Nicholas Lafata who tamed the Monster to take down the lion's share of the prize pool along with the Sapdey trophy!

Young Out Kicks Webster for Double Up

Mario Webster opened for 14,000 from early position and was called by Adam Tolander before MSPT champ Travis Young squeezed for 60,000 from the big blind.

Only Webster called, and the two players tabled their hands.

Young had Webster dominated but had a sweat after the flop fell giving Webster a double gutter.

The turn paired both players but the river kept Young out in front to secure his double-up.

The MSPT (Mid-States Poker Tour) is making its way back home for the Season 15 Minnesota Poker State Championship at Running Aces Casino April 18 - 28th!

Our $360 NLH Regional will be kicking off the 16-event series and will offer three starting flights beginning at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14th.

The series will run into its headlined $1,110 Minnesota State Poker Championship which will be held April 25th - 28th, with three starting flights being held before the field combines on Sunday to compete for the title.

In Event #13: $200 No-Limit Hold'em Epic Stack, 101 epic players took to the felt and generated a $16,160 prize pool that was paid out to the top 12 players.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Bradley Bocke (10th Place - $353), Jonathan Batye (11th Place - $353), and Andrew Allen (12th Place - $353).

When the dust settled, it was Colorado native Tyler Potts who took down the lion's share of the prize pool along with the Sapdey trophy!
